New report: How the US and the EU influence each other’s climate policies

Transatlantic cues: How the US and the EU influence each other’s climate policies is a new report discussing the complicated geopolitical landscape this year when new administrations are set on both sides of the Atlantic. The project has received financial support from Mistra Carbon Exit.

With the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States and the carbon border adjustment mechanism established by the European Union, ambitious yet contentious climate policies have been passed on both sides of the Atlantic in recent years. Each has spurred the other to consider not only the impact of these policies themselves but also whether they can inspire further policy innovation.

The four authors are researchers within Mistra Carbon Exit: Milan Elkerbout and Dallas Burtraw at Resources for the Future (RFF), Åsa Löfgren, University of Gothenburg and Lars Zetterberg, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
